[3.5] Starting B.A.M.S.

Don't forget Robin Hood Prince of thieves.

And in Robin Hood: Men in Tights, but let's not talk about that one.

Also, the Daoist swordsman in A Chinese Ghost Story was doing it in 1987. That's way before any guys in tights, whether men or elves.

Well, I must have taken away those horrid images of Many Shot in films due to the mental/intelectual trauma inflicted by seeing them. :)

Back to topic thou... Many Shot still seems like an abberation to me.... fantasy or not. Anyone think its balanced ?

It seems all right to me, but I haven't seen it in actual play yet.

I can hit an 8 1/2" x 11" target at 50' with two arrows knocked and fired at the same time, consistantly. It really is not that hard. Granted I cannot do it quickly, but it can be done.

How long does it take to set up the two arrows ? How different is it from just firing one arrow ? Any drawbacks beside time ?

Yep, seen this trick done too. I couldn't see it having any real combat use, but then the feat isn't particularly overpowering either in this incarnation.

I don't see it as a problem. There are a lot of other mechanics that strike me as being much more implausible. *Shrug*

Anyways, manyshot isn't generally considered to be overpowered (although it may be silly); it's a full round action, so it doesn't stack with itierative attacks or rapid shot.

Um, P-cat, do you have a different version of the SRD, or are there errata out there, or something? My says:

"MANYSHOT [GENERAL]
Prerequisites: Dex 17, Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, base attack bonus +6
Benefit: As a standard action, you may fire two arrows at a single opponent within 30 feet. Both arrows use the same attack roll (with a –4 penalty) to determine success and deal damage normally (but see Special)."

Seems to me that the basic point of Manyshot is to be able to get more than one arrow off when you can't take the Full Attack action.

I'm bothered by the totally unbelievable and unbalancing idea of poeple making explosions by saying a word and moving their hands.

While the ol' feline buccaneer might been wrong about what type of action Manyshot is, he's absolutely correct that it doesn't stack with iterative attacks or Rapid Shot. Remember that to get iterative attacks, or to use Rapid Shot, you must take a full round action. You cannot take a standard action and a full round action in the same round. Sage Advice in the latest Dragon has confirmed the interpretation that "as a standard action" does not just mean "in place of a single attack." If you take a standard action, you can use Manyshot. If you take a full-round action, you can get iterative attacks and use Rapid Shot. You cannot do both (unless Hasted, I suppose).

Not that this was the actual purpose of the thread, but I thought I'd throw it in there for those who might not know it.
