D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Things I wish they would have fixed

I think making the Metamagic Rods as core go towards countering the stacking nerf to Metamagic. The rods are looking very attractive and odds are you need the metamagic feat to make one.

I'm pretty sure you can't use Empower Spell with an Empowered Rod. You could "stack" Maximize and Empower, of course, but they don't stack very well in any event, and that hasn't cause me any grief.

You forgot that there is a saving throw, too. It takes more like 4 or 5 save or die spells to take out a critter with SR. If the beasty doesn't chew up my buddies and spit them out in the 1 to 5 rounds it takes to cast these spells, that is anout 20% of the party resources, yes.

So, then, it's balanced correctly, and your big complaint is that sometimes your spells don't work?

Eh. Sometimes the fighters miss, sometimes the creature's got enough DR to bounce the hit, sometimes it regenerates, sometimes it's immune to crits and the rogue sucks...it happens to every class. It'd be kind of boring if you succeeded all the time.

what metamagic rods do IMO is weaken the spontaneous casting of a sorcerer, and make it less liwely people will actually take a meatmagic feat. Both bad outcomes IMO.

Re: Spell resistance

I would like to have seen a spell that allows arcane casters to give themselves Spell Resistance...

[blink] But there already is.

Limited Wish handles Spell Resistance (Clr5) just fine.

I'm not a big enough powergamer to play a cleric. Thing is a wizard should just flat out be better at defnsive spells than the cleric. If clerics get SR at 5(which they just shouldn't even get at all) wiz should have it on there list at 4. Divination and healing is the only things clerics should be better than wizards at when it comes to spells, and I don't even think they should get the div.

Wow, that came across as if you have a real problem with clerics being anything but band-aid factories and second-rate fighters.
