D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Vehicle Space

So I was looking through the 3.0 Arms & Equipment guide last night and noticed the section on vehicles. Some of the ships are really long. With
'space' replacing face and reach, how much 'space' does a viking longship
occupy ?

I've only read through the 3.5 PHB, so if this is covered in the DMG, I apologize for posting the question.

Thanks!

I would not change the 'space' of vehicles at all, any more than I would change the size of rooms ina house or castle.

Unlike characters, vehicles don't 'command an area' and move about in that area during melee - turning, parrying, dodging, and blocking - which is what the 'space' for a creature represents.

Ah, but to be consistant with 3.5 rules, the galley needs to be changed from a face of 130 ft by 20 to a face of 30 feet with a reach of 20 feet with its ram (in all directions, of course:D )

At least, this is what happens to it during combat, the rest of the time it can be long and narrow.

Er...why? I realize you're mostly being flippant, but a galley is not a creature, like I said, and it doesn't fight like a creature, so it doesn't need to follow the same rules.

(As a matter of fact, aren't there 'facing' rules for vehicles in A&EG?)
