Well EB, I think you have some good points, but your discussion seems to (and this may be an incorrect presumption) apply to single-classed wizards.
The entire multiclass spectrum can provide many reasons to play specialists with more varied lists and especially in the case of certain warrior/wiz builds DCs are not important (as spells are used for buffing). In such cases, banning evocation would not have much effect, and may even be an easy first choice.
Furthermore we will still see Diviners (if not more than before) due to only 1 school needing to be banned. We may see fewer Abjurers, but honestly Ive only ever seen one and it was all based on flavor. Abjurer makes a good mix with cleric with certain opposed schools.
Anyway, I think those are a couple thing to think about.
