Bizarre; I thought I had a couple of posts up last night. I'll put them up again soon.

Also, as I (thought I) mentioned last night, I'll NPC some folks as needed to move things along.

Aaagh, I just got back from classes with an aim to post. :D (First week of term, things were hectic for a bit, etc.) My bad.
But, CR said and did pretty much what I was planning, with even more smarm. Excellent.

I'm chock-full of smarmy goodness. Incidentally, Scurry, have you had a chance to post your character sheet in the "Rogue's Galleria" thread yet? ;)

Perhaps the Anarchs or Xaositechs stole your posts. Your Harmonium crest avatar must be drawing their unwanted attention...

Who says it's unwanted attention? Now that they've revealed themselves, we can scrag the pikers. :]

Post up later tonight.

I have to admit, I'm rather surprised by how quickly Heinrich (and Pierce to a lesser degree) was to dismiss the due process of law. Being both lawful and good as well as a priest of a god of justice, I would have imagined that he'd at least try to support the local legal system; at least until he sees how it works and is able to judge its righteousness for himself.

I hope I'm not nitpicking, but I am curious to know how others might interpret the concepts of law and justice in this campaign. :heh:

Heinrich is Lawful Good, and I thought very carefully about what that meant when I made him. In essence, Heinrich believes in divine justice, which for the most part could be considered the stuff written down in the scriptures of Heironeous. That said, he does not necessarily believe that law is good in and of itself, and from every description that has been offered so far, he believes the Harmonium is unlikely to apply actual justice to the situation.

A certain amount of this gets trashed unfortunately by the fact that in D&D 'Law' is a universal concept which apparently you must either universally support or repudiate.

I can accept the difference between divine law and civic law, but it makes me wonder how you're going to go about applying your god's brand of justice without it being spelled out in detail somewhere. At the very least it seems like you'd need some kind of divine code of conduct/honor/chivalry to use as a guideline.

For instance, how does Heinrich's theological doctrine apply to these particular prisoners? They destroyed/damaged the innkeeper's property and threatened violence upon the innocent before being subdued. Is Heinrich justified in releasing a prisoner to his own recognizance?

I'm just trying to figure out the difference between Heinrich and, say, Sindr who's chaotically aligned and who I imagine would have an easier time of justifying his choice to avoid the Harmonium officers.
