3.5e Planescape Game

I would be interested, so long as we can count on plenty of Planar wierdness, intrigue and so on. I, too, would hold up Shemmie's story hour as the perfect example of the kind of Planescape game I would want to play.

My preferred character choice would be a Fey'ri (demon-elf crossbreed), probably neutral and possibly a Cipher... or possibly a Taker... that's if you're allowing Faction affiliations for starting characters of course. If not that should still give a clue to his mindset.

I would advocate starting higher than 1st level, mostly because I would need to if I wanted to use that concept since Fey'ri have an ECL of +2 or +3. Ideally I would prefer to start somewhere between 5 and 10. If I'm outvoted, though, I can always knock together a different concept I'm sure... or, if you could stand the hassle, I'd even be interested in coming up with a short Savage Species-esque progression towards the full Fey'ri abilities.

EDIT: I counted three players already interested when I posted this. Doh. Still, if you'd be willing to go up to five my interest definitely stands. Otherwise I'd appreciate a place as an alternate.

There was a 3.5 planescape conversion in Dragon a while back that I will probably refer to, but it doesn't include all the factions. Don't worry about faction game mechanics just yet; the main thing I want to know is your character concept; what brings you to the City of Doors?

Since I'm not the only one OK with starting at first level, let's start out in the cage with 1st level characters who do not have any faction affiliations yet. If you have a faction in mind, make a note of it; I'll assume your character has contacts with said factions and is a prospective member. Actual faction membership won't happen until later.

The following article at WotC gives details for Aasimar and Tieflings at 1st level.

Eluvan, the following article provides a half-fiend monster class which you can apply to an elf. Not the same as a Fey'Ri, but the same general idea. I'm okay with up to 6 players.

If you have an idea for a character, put it up; we can always scale a character back to 1st level before getting started. I'm mostly interested in your character concepts and a well-rounded group.

Well, let's see then... the Alter Self at will ability of the Fey'ri was pretty important to my concept, which I wouldn't get with the Half-fiend template class. Besides, then I'd have to wait until 2nd level before being at all Fiendish. Nah... I don't think I want to go down that route. That's okay, my Fey'ri concept wasn't all that fully developed anyway. I'll work on something else - maybe something from Savage Species, though probably not a Ghaele since I've just come out of a game in which I would have been playing one if my involvement in it had got off the ground.

I'll give it some thought... I think you can bet that I will be neutral, quite self-centred, with something of a philosophical/spiritual bent, probably running away from my past. Probably a rogue or bard, or perhaps something psionic - are you allowing XPHB classes? If so a Soulknife might be on the cards. If my thought processes go in a slightly odd direction maybe a monk. Of course, all this talk of classes is assuming I don't take a monster class... hmmm, decisions decisions.... ;)

I might be interested in playing the Ghale... though I don't know that my play style is particularly condusive to it (I've never, in all my years playing dnd played a cleric (except as an NPC for a short-lived game).

Did Ghale's change much between 3.0 & 3.5? They're like celestial paladins that look like elves... right? I have the 3.0 Monster Manual (I'll look it up shortly), but not Savage Species. Can you PM me the level progressions? gjs_n_cr[at]hotmail[dot]com

Okay, just looked up the flavor text and that's right up my alley. Seeing as how we'll be playing at such a low level, I'll likely stick some sort of level draining into his background. A heavenly being dealt such a crushing and humiliating defeat that he's not quite sure if he's doing the right thing anymore... questioning his very purpose in the multiverse, and becomeing so very jealous of mortals and thier vaunted free-will and destiny. The only thing that concerns me is the number of hit points I'll have... rather low with such a high ecl.

Exciting, I'll see if I can't write up a background tonight or tomorrow.

Anyhow, looking forward to intrigue and high-adventure along the great wheel. ^_^

XPHB classes and races are fine, provided starting ECL is 1.

Also, Lobo, level drain isn't necessary to justify starting low; all Ghaeles begin at 1st level and work their way up; they are only considered mature (and therefore summonable) once they reach 20th level. Savage Species gives rules for transforming characters into monsters; I'm going to say that new Ghaeles are created from transformed petitioners who have served the cause of freedom (Chaotic Good) particularly well. This is true of most outsiders.

Oh, new question: How often are you looking for us to post?
And Bodyknock, do you have a blank template for that character sheet format? Every time I try and do one on the fly, the spacing is screwed up.
