1. The Caves of Chaos. Ran games in this area through 4 different editions, probably will incorporate into a campaign in 4e eventually, too.

That one was so popular with my group that they stayed there, making the city their main base of operations. Twenty-plus years later it is still being used in that capacity.

Man, how'd I forget that? I loved the feel of that city.

I just wish I liked the name better, but that's a minor quibble.

Three favorite D&D locations! Well,,

As mentioned earlier, classics like the KotB / Caves of Chaos, the Drow City Erelhei Cinlu (Heck, that whole Underworld setting from D1-3 wasfull of stuff to explore), and the Isle of Dread.

I'd ad B4 The Lost city. Plus I've got fond memories of Specularum and Threshold from the Duchy of Karameikos.

One great thing I remember about the old modules is they all had areas deliberately left undetailed to encourage the DM to develop their own material.
