D&D 4E 3 months in and 7 to go - will YOU switch to 4e?

How will my game be affected by 4e?

I'll probably run a 4e game alongside my Arcana Evolved game. When the current story arc ends I'll put out a choice.

If 4e rocks my socks I may put serious consideration in converting my world doc to 4e. Right now I was about to custom make a PHB from the 3.5e PHB and AE, but then I heard about 4e. We'll see.

I'll read the SRD and house rule what I like and disregard the rest. I'm done buying. At the very best, I might buy an *inexpensive* alternative core book.

At this stage I don't feel like enough information has been given out by WotC for me to make a decision on switching or not. I imagine that I will at some stage, but I doubt that it will be from the day of release.

Yeah, they really dropped the ball here, I think.

I loved what I was hearing with 3E. I'm not even really sure what I'm hearing with 4E, except for a bunch of playtest blogs to tell us their PC rocks.

Not really. We need all the information 2-6 weeks before sale date. Having all of the information now would kill the hype when they need it the most, just before the sale date. A "wait and see" attitude is probably the best at the moment, unless you really dislike the game as it stands today.

I'll switch when Keith switches and releases The Kyngdoms 4th edition!

Now seriously, I am planning to wait at least one year before we switch, as we have two campaigns that we want to finish before changing rulesets.

In the worst possible scenario, we will make our own homebrew 3.85 game with rules cannibalized from both rulesets... Our group already uses combat maneouvers (from Book of Iron Might) and I KNOW I will be using any interesting terrain rules (I liked the terrain/poison spore article)

LOL - thanks :) I'm not sure what I'm going to do with The Kyngdoms. I may well have seperate 3.5 and 4ed sections, or might just make it system free. I'll definately do something with it - just not sure what yet!

The game is simultaneously better and worse than the d20 edition I don't want to run or play now. Whether I do either will depend on how malleable the games rules compared to the current form of d20.

Am I the only person who watched those initial podcasts and thought of the infamous "My hat of d02 know no limits" rant?

(And I mean here, that I thought that the WotC reps were saying their hat of d02 knew no limit.)

The group I play with rotates continuing campaigns approximately every 3 months. I've just finished running a batch of Star Wars, which has gone down very well, and we'll pick up our Thieves' World campaign next.

I will be buying the 3 core books, and I imagine we will decide whether or not to convert to some of those rules for Thieves' World based on how well they fit our preferences.

We may also start a loose 4e campaign, with multiple DMs taking turns to run adventures.
