30 levels what will it mean to spellcasters?

Isn't that elegant for handling a bunch of spells (cure minor-mass cure)?
Actually, no, it isn't. It's also not going to save space. You are right, however, that augments are elegant. But they don't look like that. They look like that:
- to heal an additional 1d8 adds 1 to the required spell slot
- to heal all allies within 30ft add 4 to the required spell slot
In other words: augments use formula, not tables.

Last time the "sweet spot" showed on these boards, folks called 5-9th levels the sweet spot
IMHO, the sweet spot is level 5 - 12.
My guess would be that 4E characters start out stronger (about the equivalent of a 2nd - 3rd level 3E character). New spell levels will definitely become available more slowly.
Maybe they'll also tweak the required xp for new levels to extend the sweet spot further and/or slow down advancement in the elite range of levels.

I'm about to show my age...

: old man voice on: Back in my 1e days... the Magic User Spells Usable Per Day Table went all the way up to level 29. And we liked it that way! : old man voice off:

Ah, the days of no level limit. I never saw the need to limit my game to 20 levels. If you defeat the ultimate monster, well there's always its' mother. I know Beowulf still defeated her but as DM I could still work around that by creating bigger badder mothers. :D

Aww, dang. I was going to say that. :p

Old system for wizards and clerics: new spell levels at 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17.

Maybe new system, 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25?

Its about the same thing, it just spreads out a little bit.
