Halcyon - I am almost positive that you shouldn't be benefiting from the addition of backlash damage to a long-duration spell.

Wow, you're right. I dont think anyone in my group ever noticed that about backlash. Doh. Though it is just one tiny line in a footnote so I can see how we overlooked it. All of the examples with backlash aren't buffs so I guess it just never occured to us to think it might have a duration. It's still however, possible to pull of this spell without backlash (or with just a little using a fast healing item ;)) though you would have to increase the casting time significantly, take an xp hit and just make it permanent.

Permanent, are you crazy? You have to multiply the DC by 5!

But thats after all other modifiers have been applied. You could in theory get a -200 DC mod alone just from making the cast time 100 days (not that Im suggesting maxing that out for this spell). Who cares if it has a long cast time if it seldom needs to be recast?

Firstly, the x5 is after the factors but just before the mitigating factors, so this doesn't work. But if it did, you would be in really big trouble when the spell got Disjoined the next day and you had to spend another 100 days casting it again :(

Apparently I don't know the epic magic rules as well as I thought I did. Ah well, the character was only built for a one shot. I guess I need to reread the epic magic rules and actually pay attention.

Heh, no worries. You understood the rules better than 70% of the people to whom I've spoken about them. That's pretty darn good for only using them in a one-shot!

I'm really looking forward to this adventure? Any new monsters in their, Anson?

And thanks for having the courage to submit an epic-level adventure!

Monsters? Hmmm... But I can't spill the beans.

It was less a matter of courage than unhealthy obsession with the epic-level rules, to the point that I needed to see an epic-level adventure in print, even if I had to do it myself.

And I'm hoping the question mark in your post is a typo...

You are very lucky to have a DM who let you have a nonepic +30 spellcraft item. Frankly, I don't allow any items to add to skills that don't have skill+ items in the core rules. So in my campaign, the only way anyone is getting a magic item that gives a Spellcraft bonus is the 245,400 Epic Rod of the Epic Spellcaster, which is a situational +10 for epic spellcasting only.

I mean, think of how unbalancing a 90,000 GP +30 skill item would be in non-epic play...
hey, sorry, im kinda new here, don't quit have the hang of all the stuff.

Hmm...paleomortis, I can guess to what you are referring in your posts, and it seems like it may be directed at me. If so, could you hit the quote message checkbox?
