If I'm not too creative with gear it actually isn't too hard to do high level NPCs (paticuarly if you have a clculator).
Yeah, but since we were using 3.0 at the time the item only cost 9k... +skill item cost was one of the most broken item creation things in 3.0 imo.Rystil Arden said:I mean, think of how unbalancing a 90,000 GP +30 skill item would be in non-epic play...
Kelleris said:With a ton of high-level slots and 5-6 spells/round (I went the Automatic Quicken route), he has no problems renewing his moment and using a summon monster IX or two every round to summon a clot of monsters to provide soft cover or use the aid another action.
And that's why, even though I consider myself to be the most permissive DM ever, I simply didn't allow monstrosities such as that item you mentioned. If your DM did, he shouldn't blame you for your crazy epic spells. And Kelleris is dead-on about the backlash happening every round.Halcyon said:Yeah, but since we were using 3.0 at the time the item only cost 9k... +skill item cost was one of the most broken item creation things in 3.0 imo.
Nope, there's a feat that lets you get more quickened spells up. I once built a level 40 Wizard who took Automatic Quicken 3 times and then Epic Spellcasting, Improved Metamagic, and 8 of the feat that gives more Quickened spells. So he got off ten spells every round.Lasher Dragon said:Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure this wouldn't work. As far as I know you only get 1 quickened spell per round, so 2 spells per round max.
Just another example of the Rock-Paper-Scissors Paradigm. He could shoot off ten spells per round, and all of his spells were quickened, but he couldn't cast anything above 9th-level and had trouble beating SR. So he was very very good at taking out groundlings, buffing up quickly, and escaping, but he would have a lot of trouble actually winning fights against same-level opponents (at least the ones in my campaign).Lasher Dragon said:Ahhh... nasty
