30th level quickplay characters

I wanted to design a set of 30th level characters that can be played in quick one-hour scenarios.

Say two people from your regular group don't show up and you're stuck with four people - not quite enough for a full game but too many to simply call it a night.

Instead of a regular game you can set up one or two ultra-high-level scenarios using these quickplay characters and some simple mods to the level 30 beasts you might find in the monster manual or the forgotten realms campaign book. Just pass out the quickplay characters, make a couple of mods to the beasts by rounding out hitpoints and damage, and have a fun battle!

Here are the quickplay characters and the quickplay house rules:

Updated: includes six solo monsters, updated hitpoints, and a barbarian!

Enjoy!

Updated

I updated the quickplay characters by adding a barbarian using the new rules and I added five monsters including Graz'zt, an ancient black dragon, Yeenoghu, Blazing Rorn the Fury, and Terpenzi. I'll probably add Orcus and a Dracolich soon.

I like it a lot, but if you do make changes please make the recharge entries more visible. I don't want to trawl through dozens of words looking for "recharge" at the end of every monster's turn.

Thanks.

I just saw a little problem with the fighter.

"Sure Strike" surely is not his at-will power of choice.
Against Solos I'd say he would have Reaping Strike, which would deal 5 damage on a miss according to your house rules, and probably 30 on a hit.

Sure Strike however would have less damage than Tide of Iron or Reaping Strike since it's not enjoying the Strength Modifier damage. Perhaps 25 would be more appropriate.

updates

I'll have some updates tonight. Thank you for the feedback. I'm going to add a dracolich, move the recharge statement earlier on the mobs, and I'll fix the fighter.

I also calculated hitpoints wrong. I calculated them using the NPC rules but really, since they have healing surges and heal powers, they should use standard PC hitpoints. This will reduce player hitpoints by about 40 each or so. That makes it a bit more of a challenge. The way they were, I don't know how the party would ever have been killed.

Thanks again for the feedback!

updated

I fixed the fighter problem, moved the recharge statements, explained the new house rule on recharges (uses a d20 instead of a d6), and added Orcus!

Updated: I also added the dracolich; man that guy's a badass

I also added a Tarrasque

the tarrasque? I need to download again! hey where do some of these monsters come from? I would like to see sizes on them, so I know which mini to represent them. I am gonna also make a "encounters" to have big monsters like Szass Tam and Manshoon,.... unless you already have something like that in mind..... Gonna take this to my monday gameday and get slashing

Sizes and stuff

I'm glad you like them! I didn't put sizes on there because a few of them are gargantuan and there really aren't minis for that. Use what makes sense. I have an orcus mini that is only a large even though he's huge but whatever.

A couple of the monsters come from the Forgotten Realms campaign guide. The rest come from the monster manual.

I thought about adding some elites like Manshoon and Zass Tam but I hadn't really gotten around to it and I thought some solo fights would work nicely. I may do that in the future or even put together some two or three encounter mini-adventures.

Glad you guys like them!
