D&D 3E/3.5 3E/4E Data

Here's what I want for 4E. I would like to have all the game data available and tracked in a massive, clean database. I would like the database to be a living growing thing that can be revised over time eliminating the need for new editions...ever. I would even be willing to pay a modest subscription fee for database access.

I don't know if you'll get it like you want it, but this edition's DI service will probably be the closest you'll come to it yet. I even vaguely recall a supposition that the released Dungeon Mag Modules through the DI will have a "package" option to play them in the digital tabletop with a minimum of fuss and setup. That could be a rumor only, though.

Well, at least for the first part, that's exactly what you'll get from D&DI, if the announcements are to be believed.

I assume there will eventually be a fifth edition of the game, but given their new approach it should be possible to keep 4th edition stable for a longer time than ever before.

Actually, what would be cool is a conversion/edition index database. This could list every class, feat, spell, monster, etc, where to find it in what product and what edition, and at the same time, let you know if it was converted to 4E yet. It wouldn't need to have any actual game information, just a list of where to find that item. This could even be a useful sales tool for new 4E products - if someone really liked dark nagas, they could look it up, find out that they were in the 4E MMII, and that could spur them to buy that book, if they didn't already have it in their collection.
