Hah, the idea of migrating halflings was revolutionary back in early 3e....

The fact that everybody keeps seeing halflings as Tolkien hobbits shows how little impact it had on the gaming community.

Of course, there is nothing keeping WOTC from sticking on a bad idea to begin with ...

What's negative about that? AFAIAC, halflings are hobbits. Someone else is welcome to say otherwise, just like they are welcome to say vampires are alien parasites or orcs are a form of lichen.
