Dicebreaker closing? Where to get your TTRPG news!

Do we count YouTube as 'social media'? Because a lot of official D&D information I will get first from the WotC D&D YouTube channel as I am subscribed to it and they post a video. But even then, all the analysis of it (plus all other TTRPG news) comes from EN World. I pretty much use EN World for everything TTRPG-related.

I also go to Polygon daily and will receive some info there... but usually the info posted there I will have already gotten from EN World. And then there will be second and third tier sites that aren't specifically about TTRPGs that I go to for other games/information that might also post about TTRPG info several days or a week after the fact in order to inform their usual non-TTRPG audience of what is going on (PC Gamer / Blizzard Watch / Kotaku etc.)

But for me, it's EN World 99.9% of the time.

Everyone always blames capitalism. Except when the are cashing their paycheck.
That’s an absurd comment. There is no escaping Capitalism in our society. You can’t step out of it and say, I’m going to join a farm-commune and live off the land because Capitalism sucks. How many farm communes that use handmade tools are you aware of? People do what they do to survive. Wealthy people blame poor people for being resentful of Capitalism because they aren’t good at it. Capitalism has lead us to the brink of environmental collapse and the end of civilization. Capitalism has lead us to global warming going past the point of no return. We are frogs boiling slowly alive, but there is nowhere to jump out of it. So yeah, I cash my paycheck because I want to eat, but I blame Capitalism for trapping society in a system that is ruining the earth.

I was just saying i like my news for free; but your thing is good too i guess.

Mod Note:
Folks,

This thread is about where to find RPG news. It is NOT about Capitalism.

Please shift your commentary accordingly - if it isn't about RPG news, take it elsewhere, please and thanks.

Hey, do we have a source for Dicebreaker closing, or is this just planning ahead?
Well, it was sold to IGN a few weeks ago (as a small part of a much bigger deal involving other sites), and all the staff have been laid off. At least that’s what the (ex) staff are saying on social media.

Professional game journalism is dead. Nobody wants or needs analysis from paid 'authorities' about the games they play, especially when that involves unnecessary moralizing. Such sources are no less accurate and often more opinionated than those 'unprofessional' influencers they are so eager to dismiss. And private user forums have always been the best source for the most authentic data anyway. Shame they're going away too.

If it's any consolation these companies aren't going to financially survive on AI generated content either, especially with both #Google and #Microsoft cutting them off at the pass. People engage to be informed, connected, and/or entertained, and there are far better sources for those than generated articles or game guides.
