3E Stats for King Azoun? or King Azoun in Disguise

Can anyone tell me where I can find 3E stats for King Azoun, official or fan-made?

Or just any stats for King Azoun in general?

I plan to have him meet the characters "in disguise" and tag along with them for a session or two, so that he can see who the adventurers are since he has been given reports that the PCs have decided to setup a stronghold in the Stonelands and have not even asked his permission. Once the PCs prove themselves, hopefully, Azoun in disguise will advise the PCs to visit the King of Cormyr to get permission. Imagine the PCs surprise when they discover the "old-man" that was tagging along with them was the King himself. I don't know what type of personality to give the king-in-disguise, either clueless old man, similar to Fizban in the DL novels, or just a grizzled, veteran adventurer.

I'd say a grizzled, veteran adventurer would fit Azoun better than a befuddled old man would. I don't think 3e stats were published for him because he died in FR continuity before the transition to 3e. If I remember correctly, he was a cavalier in 1e (at least level 17, possibly 20), and in 2e became at least a Ftr20. Probably the most current stats on him appear in the Heroes' Lorebook which was published in 1996, and is available as a .PDF on the link I just provided over at RPG Now.

Check the archives of the WOTC FR mailing list. IIRC someone wrote him up in 3e on the list about 2 years ago...

I couldn't find the stats on the WotC archive, it's just really too big too search.

I may end up using the 3rd Ed. stats for Stefan Karameikos of the Mystara setting. He is a 15th level LG Fighter, King of Karameikos. I may just give him a few more levels and tweak him a bit.

Or, I may just make up my own stats.

I'd make King Azoun a fighter of around 20th level, possibly with levels in the Purple Dragon Knight FR PrC.

If you're going to go by canon, Azoun was born in 1282 DR. It's closing in on 1373 DR so that would put him at ripe old age of 90-91 years old. Unless I'm forgetting something about Azoun, "grizzled" aint the word for it.

Actually, King Azoun is dead. According to the FRCS, he died while slaying a dragon that was threatening Cormyr.

I just assumed that dreaded beast's campaign takes place before Azoun's death.

Correct Dark Jezter, around the Year of the Wyvern, 136-something.

Anyway, I just got Redblade's char gen, which is making my job of trying to "build" Azoun as an NPC alot easier.
