"3r" is not only more accurate, it's easier to type than "3.5"

"4" is even easier.
But not accurate.

I don't like the sound of it, but it is easier to say in conversation. Revised would have worked just as well but maybe they wanted to stay away from the M:tg terminology?

What about 3.R ?

Or 3 'R' us ?

Or Wizards of the Coast's Dungeon & Dragon Role Playing Game Rules revised version of third edition, featuring the d20 System, based on original work by E. Gargy Gygax and Dave Arneson ?

A buddy of mine who is a die-hard 2E fan (and who *really* only converted to 2E for the proficiencies rules) calls it "warmed-over leftover casserole," where 3E was "leftover casserole."

A bit longer in the typing, but just to put a button on this topic. :)

So far I haven't seen anything I feel warrants more than, say, a "3.1" moniker.

I used to think this, but more and more I suspect the revision will be more akin to the changes made in 2e from 1e.
