3rd edition caster builds

Apparently I can't ask about how casters are better than fighters in dnd 3rd edition, is there any place where I can do such a thing? Everyone talks about it and it's obvious however I am looking for specifics. Thanks

I read that thread- it wasn't so much the question as the way it was asked.

If you had just asked for a list of the most powerful spellcaster builds in 3.X games, you'd have gotten a nice selection of links and detailed posts. No mod would have even peeped a word at that.

What you did was denigrate the games right out of the gate. THAT ruffles feathers.

Man, I'm just trying to give you some insight as to what happened...but it seems like you enjoy being abrasive, so I'll just leave you to whatever answers others see fit to offer.

Buh-bye.

Hiya.

Evenglare, your reply two posts up doesn't even make an attempt to try and engage any level of mutual respect. You aren't talking to some "random guy on the street of a major city you'll never visit again"...you're talking to people who are all at the same party you are. Everyone here is a role-player. We're all hanging out here more or less trying to enjoy eachothers company and conversation.

I'm sorry, but I don't think you're going to get many helpful replies with single sentence replies that basically sound like "yeah, yeah...bla bla bla...whatever...tell me what I want to know...NOW".

On a side note...I'm also interested in this. As I said in the other thread; my group and I have always found spellcasters to be the weakest/most-sucky in 3.x...so all this talk about them "winning" at higher levels really has us all confused.

It just really irritates the hell out of me, that my other topic got locked because I said 3.x casters were broken, meaning far more powerful end game. Is this not a widely accepted fact? I also explained later that I love 3.x stuff. It still doesn't make the fact of broken unbalanced play .

And then people start posting in this post, about the other post, while not actually answering any questions that I asked. People usually get modded for off topic posting and i'm pretty sure the definition of off topic posting is when people do not answer another person's questions of the original post.

You may have more luck in the Legacy forum.

Then again, if _I_ was looking for 'broken' character builds I'd look at WotCs Character Optimization boards (which I don't since I'm not interested in that kind of thing!).

Some of my favorite builds involve Sorcerer and some Prestige classes.

Sorcerer 6 / Incantatrix 10 / Abjurant Champion 4 (ends up with base attack of +20 with full casting levels after buffing)
Sorcerer 6 / Incantatrix 10 / Archmage 4 (metamagic extraordinaire)
Sorcerer 10 / Argent Savant 5 / Force Missile Mage 5 (magic missile is your bread and butter blasty spell)
Sorcerer 6 / Eldritch Knight 7 / Abjurant Champion 5 / Dragonslayer 1 / Spellsword 1 (natural base attack of +17 with 19 levels of sorcerer spellcasting)

Sure, Sorcerers and Wizards seem weak to start the game, but once they hit 6th level and can start flinging around iconic blasty spells, buffs, and debuffs they start turning into "gods". No joke, a well placed area of effect debuff, like slow, can turn a losing battle into a winnable battle instantly.
