More importantly this half-level bonus likely applies to damage and hp as well. In SW, characters added half their level to damage anyway, and having ability scores based on the bonus accomplishes the same effect without requiring an additional rule.

I also note that characters don't add Con to their hp at each level, only the first. This suggest that the Con bonus has the potential to be too large to handle when multiplied by level--not the case if you stick with the base, first-level score.

Does this mean that a 14 dex Wiz of equal level to a 14 dex Ftr has the same chance to hit with a bow (if they are an elf, for example). Genuine question cos I don't get how it works- saga has BAB IIRC? And a 14 Str cleric only 2 less than an 18 Str ftr with a melee weapon?

I suspect that the Fighter class probably has a bonus to attack above and beyond just their attribute bonus and 1/2 level. Probably something that gives them a little boost that sets them apart from a wizard when it comes to non-magical combat

Well this brings us neatly back to the War Pick entry we saw some time ago:

Weapon: War Pick
Prof: 2 [what does this mean?]
Damage: d8 [note, just one damage roll listed]
Range: -
Cost: 15gp
Weight: 6lb.
Category: Pick ["Pick" is a "category" of some kind]
Properties: High crit, versatile ["high crit" is mentioned above; "versatile" is something else]

Prof 2 gives you a +2 to hit, perchance?
