4e Battle Music! My Dilemma.

I have been stymied a bit in my attempt to create a soundtrack for my next game. I've got plenty of ambient music, battle music, drama music, and such.

But I don't have an overture.

Like Fallen Seraph, I want an opening theme song.

The first GM of my friends-group who used music was lucky as hell to be running a Conan game, so all he had to do was start playing the opening of the first Conan movie, where Mako is being all dramatic and stuff, and by the time the drums start kicking, we're ready to get to the game.

My game, though, doesn't use an existing property. So I'm thinking of starting off each session with a different rock or metal song, to sort of set the tone I'm looking for. Then the rest will be 'fantasy-appropriate' music.

Except for when they fight God. Then it's effin' metal all the way.

I cannot defame my music tastes any more by continuing to suggest Apocalyptica... so I shall. A lot of their covers start really slow and tranquil (could be good for BG music to let everyone come in and get settled/talk about things/lead into the game), but then become more rad. The more rad parts would be where you shift them towards the game... it'd be really cool if you used specific songs for certain session themes so they sort of knew what they were getting themselves into.

And then go epic metal for fighting god... cause you pretty much have to.
