Heh, this poll makes me think that if 4E has copied something from World of Warcraft is the absolute hate of healing classes :P

If they are thought of as 'healer classes' then, yes, they deserve to be voted off as they can never compare to the cleric.

If they are thought of as 'leader classes' (i.e. buffers/ally support) then they each have their gimick that isn't necessarily healing, though they can each happen to do that as well.

Bloody hell, one of the things I liked most about 4e was that if you wanted your party to have a healer, you had choices that weren't "this guy who casts divine magic" and "this OTHER guy who casts slightly different divine magic".

Meanwhile you guys seem to want to return to the bad old days of, "We need a cleric, who's going to play the cleric?"

Maybe you're just all god-botherers. In other news, down with the warlock. Or up with the warlock. Maybe an extra d6 damage on all his attacks would balance him.

I've given up on voting off the sorcerer -- for now. I'll save that vitriol for the later rounds. I guess the invoker gets my evil eye this time around.

I am bummed to see the bard and warlock among the frontrunners this time.

Personally there are two main reasons I won't vote the Ranger off this early in the game...

2. Easiest class, IMO, to introduce new and casual players to the game with

Especially number 2, as without this at least one of my players probably wouldn't touch 4e.

Wait, so boring and easy are rewarded? I know a couple of people from college that must be billionaires by now. :p

I don't have a problem with the ranger. It comes prepackaged with allot of easily recognizable flavor, and if you don't like that flavor, ignore it and use it to build a cool and effective, two weapon fighter or archer, without having to know the rules inside and out or own all the extra books.

On this list presently, my biggest issue is with the Sorcerer. Much like it's 35d edition predecessor the Sorcerer feels forced, and completely unnecessary. With the wizard and the warlock, we pretty much have it's area covered. It's powers would have been better served as additional options for those two classes.

Well I (and my players) think it's more boring to be a pseudo-commander/sidekick/support character than to actually be a major damage dealer with a low level of in-game complexity. In a game supposedly about killing things and taking their stuff... go figure many people actually want to do the killing rather then helping others do it. ;)

Well, only a few hours and it looks like the Bard is on the way out, leading the rest of the classes(save one) out the door. Not unhap@py about it, as the bard can be strong, but more by standing around, not by doing anything himself. One reason I like the cleric best. You always feel like you are doing something with the standards and moves, and just dispensing critical healing with minors.

To me that is the big difference, Clerics seem leaders as an added ability, while warlord and bards leading and healing seems to be their main ability.

I just do not like leaders who have to beg the rest of the party do something to look cool.

Warlord: "Someone use an actions point.... please?"
Bard: "Could someone bloody or kill something please? Any day now."

Clerics just feel like leaders who are dangerous guys in their own right, not jsut hanging around with dangerous guys.

And the Bard follows the carnage of the leaders. Does the cleric have what it takes to survive? Looking at the votes, it may not.
