4e Combat Playtest [FULL]

Good Grief! You mean it's going to get tougher that THIS fight??! Ok...whatever you say..... :) Well, then, we should all use our action points in the second encounter, or maybe some of us in this first one, and then ALL use our action points in the third, after we recover the spent ones. If we don't use one in the first or second encounter, then that will just be a total waste because we know that any APs used will be recovered after two encounters. But, honestly, just from looking at the number and nature of our foes in the current battle, I wouldn't expect any of us to survive to fight in a second encounter. I hope that I'm wrong!!

Actually, almost all the monsters are lower level than you. They make up for that with number and the advntage of fire... but really, it shouldn't be so tough...

Still, your playtest will only give accurate results if the pcs use all of the powers in their arsenal, so we should press every advantage that we have.

Well, 3 encounters in a day is the minimum to give a more or less accurate playtest I'd say. If the characters can burn through all their dailies and action points in a single encounter, it's pretty obvious thet they will overpower it unless it's overwhelmingly though.
Like in normal play, you need to manage your resources for a varying number of encounters during an adventure day.

I agree with that. It seems to me that three really tough encounters, back-to-back, should just about completely expend all of the average party's resources, but still end victoriously for the party. So, since we're a L20 party, that means that our encounters should be about what, L22-23 for us to live through three of them in rapid succession? Or, since the last encounter will be the toughest, maybe the first is more like L19-20 and the last about L25?

Raise the first, lower the last and put the second somewhere in-between, and you'll come close ^^

EDIT: Also, I'm honestly not sure how much the terrain features will influence the difficulty. The bad guys have an advantage here naturally since they're mostly fire creatures. However battle ground will be different in each encounter.

And I thought that the players had it rough to come up with all of these powers for just one character! You've had to do almost the same thing for a whole horde of monsters. I bow before your gaming skills!

(See guys? This is how you butter up the DM. Think it'll work? ...... Nah, me neither. :-S )

Clockwise starting from Sharm (the first one is the 1 listed on its own). So for Senara it should be the crit if I'm not mistaken... noticed an error?
