The material the cover's made of is not an indicator if a book is truly hard-bound. Most Hardcover books these days are glue bound, essentially a paper back book with a cardboard cover.
At $75 they should be real embossed leather covers, signature bound and stitched, with gilt edges, a slip case, and at least one bound in book mark.
