so does that mean that Vatan makes it back safely with the caster's body? (he asks hopefully ;) ) And if so how long was he gone?

He would also have picked up any items that might have dropped along the way.

Okay, the reason that Vatan is pulling people aside from the sailors, and the captain in particular, is that he is thinking of giving the 100 gp that he found on the gobbo caster to the captain. This is in way of compensation for the loss of the ship on their watch. True the captain did most likely have a good idea of the risks, but we did fail in our duty. He is quite aware that the money will not buy a new (or used) ship, but it is at least a gesture on our part that might help them out a bit. He is also aware that the sailors have in all likelyhood lost everything that they owned along with their livelyhood.

The money is ours as far as he is concerned, and he wants everyone's opinion before he goes ahead and gives it away.

Comments?

Wouldn't Vatan need to ask the group in character to get our approval/rejection?

Sahyr would likely say that the glorious combat was compensation enough, until someone explained to him that the sailors do not like fighting, which would baffle him, but he'd likely agree to give the gold away.

Sure, I dont expect there to be any shops or any tradesmen left in them where were going anyway.

A bit pessimistic, aren't we? You never know, they could be having a grand ol' parade out there in Hania.

[/sblock]Of course, the parade might consist of marching goblins with old women and children on rotisseries, but hey.. a parade is a parade, after all. ;)[/sblock]

I did it this way as not to side track the main thread. Vatan is not planning on giving the money until they are leaving, and I really didn't hold up anything that might be happening overnight with a discussion over this. I did say in character that he was going around to all of the PCs to talk to them.

If this is the wrong way to do it, please let me know.

And Vatan would be the first to point out that fighting is NOT the preferred pass time for sailors...

[sblock] a close third behind drinking and wenching.....but the the prefered.[/sblock]

Yeah, I realized that after I posted my question that that was Vatan was referring to. Suffice it to say Sahyr would have liked the gold, but if he was told in the terms that the sailor's loss of their ship would be much like someone breaking his sword into tiny pieces, he'd give up whatever his share would have been in those 'spoils'.

Assuming you can wake Pier up, he'll have no objection. He's used to having all the money he needs and hasn't yet adjusted to the notion that he's now cut off from his previous income (his father's glassmaking business).

I was a little confused by your forking the conversation to the OOC thread. I thought it was your way of trying to keep the discussion secret from the sailors! Maybe somebody should check Pier for concussion.
