Wacom Graphire is cheapest ART one, don't get a "Bamboo" (not nearly as good.)

Trust and Genius also sell tablets, *much* cheaper and mostly pretty decent, but not as good as a Wacom.
It's like using a pen or brush, pressure etc affects the brush.
If you have more money, a Wacom Intuos has tilt sensitivity and other features which lets you emulate an airbrush, literally.
vast improvement for doing art
I can't do 2d work, I'm just useless at drawing, but I use mine for touching up my 3d work and making textures for 3d models.
