[4E] Knowledge checks and monster powers

I like your way of handling it, Jack99.

We're having our first 4E session tonight (after some testing), how about resistances? Do you tell 'em "resistant to necrotic, vulnerable to radiant"?

Also, the monster's type. Do you guys tell them, "it's a brute" or "it's an elite controller"?

Thanks.

Yes, if the roll is high enough. I never say how much, even if immune. About monster roles, they have to go by the description I give. Brutes, soldiers and controllers seem fairly easy to spot most of the time, while skirmishers and lurkers are harder for them to differentiate going by my description. But I do not think that ever worried them.

Edit: Held og lykke ;)

@Jack: That's pretty much how I have been doing it, using in-game language as much as possible and keeping special powers to myself. This is stuff the PCs have heard and read, so special NPC powers aren't available to them as knowledge.

Resistances and Vulnerabilities are DC25, so I give them out on those rolls, but with no numbers. 'Somewhat resistance to radiant energy'
