The Major Spoilers: Critical Hits podcasts does it one die roll per power. I can't stand that! It really nerfs the wizard's attacks. And if I remember right the GM TPK'd them once with an AOE that was a crit.

Yeah, you SHOULD roll to-hit for every target with AoEs. Things get pretty swingy if you don't. I guess maybe if you have a whole lot of minions or something you might cut corners that way, but I wouldn't recommend it. Its pretty rare to have an AoE attack more than 2-3 targets anyway, so it really doesn't save a lot of time.
