The tokens would make it easy to run and track combats for that module. Personally I prefer pictures, but the numbers would help for clarity. Nice set, especially the recommended minis list at the end. Although there are some newer minis (such as guard drakes) that you didn't mention. Thanks for the post!

I agree with Zinovia that without pictures they are not that useful. More importantly, you should definitely not put down the roles of the monsters or their levels. Are you expecting this tokens to be placed on the battlemat? Before seeing the PDG I would've said yes, but after seeing the PDF, there's no way these could be used in front of the players.

Also, IMO, you don't need to number minions. That's the cool thing about them. I do like the numbers of other monsters, but I'd prefer to see them as a superscript or some other visually appealing method above and beyond a descriptive picture. Also, don't number individuals. Sir Keegan doesn't need a number. He'll never replicate!

Right now, I use 1" circular wooden disks from the craft store (for medium/small) and 2" for large (etc.). I hand-wrote numbers on them, so what you provide here doesn't help me at all. Now, if you put pictures on them, I would definitely be able to tape them to my disks and use them. No longer would hte players joke about "Oh, no! We're beset by numbers!"

:)

Corrected Mini Listing

Corrected the mini listing and adjusted some of the older references to more accurate mini's.

Reposted v1.1 of the PDF

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. I gave the issues you mentioned thought and still went with the direction provided. I didn't do pictures because the simple black/white illustrations I had would not print well on my cheap color deskjet. So I decided to not use images.

Not showing any information on the token is another concept that I fought with quite a bit. I felt that despite your best efforts to hide what the monster is, players will learn regardless. They can either look at the bottom of the mini and look at its name, or they can recognize it by the image...etc. sure you could change out image but thats more work than I care for.

As for minions, your probably right and I didn't consider that. However, couldn't it be possible for minion #1 to have a status effect upon it? It might prove helpful to be able to identify one minion which is slowed vs one that is not.

These aren't meant to be a replacement for actual mini's but for someone who would like some colorful, easy to use markers can use this.

another note, if you dont like the information on the tokens...flip them over and just put a number on the other side. Once the players identify the token they can flip it back.

CUT OUT HALF OF THE COMBAT ENCOUNTERS!
cough, cough, ahem... sorry, whenever someone says 'Keep on the Shadowfell' I blurt that out uncontrollably.
