4e Ranger builds

THere's also the bastard sword. Since you're human the feat for it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm kinda paranoic about proficiency bonuses when it comes to something other than Fighters. So, while playing a ranger I'd stick with +3 ones, and the Bastdard Sword is probably the best one out there.

Also you'll need to decide early on if you plan on going for a high strength and high dex ranger sticking with hide armour, or if you want to focus on some of the special effects of the powers then go strength and wisdom and get the heavy armour feats

Although weapon focus is great for a dual weapon ranger, i am having a lot of fun using whatever weapons come my way. My ranger is currently 6th but started at 1st

Man, don't go starting to compare DnD weapon names to real weapons, you get everyone confused! Chalk and cheese. ;)

That was my first thought too, before I saw the vault. I haven't asked the DM if we can use the vault yet.

I was thinking of the Dwarf though so you can take dwarven weapon training. So, if I can swing it, I was thinking of the Dwarf with two Crag hammers and Dwarven Weapon Training and faster runner to make up for lack of speed. Obviously that master plan couldn't be attained at first level, but it could be something to shoot for.

i have eladrin ranger melee type. 4th level at the mo with 18 str and dex...lots of nice feats that add to damage like eladrin solider, TWF, focus etc. I multiclassed him into rogue so if he gets to go first in the combat he can dish out all sorts of hurt.
