With this, I can see PC sorcerors being a thing of the past, as they'd be hunted down and killed by powerful wizards and clerics for being, essentially, an inexpensive material component. Yikes.

Well, it might solve the problem


Perhaps if they just work as arcane xp (I forgot about those spoiled divine casters that get full spell lists), and just for a small amount like CL*CL, it will make the difference between "inexpensive material" and small treasure.

Of course it won't stop the greedy "I always scribe my scrolls in sorcerer's blood" evil wizards.
