[4e] The Wolfcrown, Chapter 1

Doren bowed softly as he shook his head softly. His hands moved with skill and ease as he finished his bandaging of Bounders pale flesh and came back to his feet from his kneel after repacking his healing equipment with a surgeons accuracy and concentration. Pulling his cloak from his shoulders he helped the REAL bounder to his feet and wrapped the garment about the eladrins slim form and smiled softly to him...

"I hope you can accept my most humble apologies my friend. You must understand I've dealt with my fair share of people lately who aren't what eyes are actually seeing so to speak. I will explain more later, however now we should move if you are able, your assailant could return and with help this time. Let us get you back to the service to the queen shall we?" the priest said eloquently almost as if the nobility tones in Bounders voice brought out the same in his own.

"You asked why we're here," Thorn added. "The answer is to protect the Queen...quite possibly from the same people who attacked you. We were sent by the Orphans."

Bounder smiles at Thorn and Doren.

"Agents from The Orphans' Guild? Very well. I suspect the Queen will be waiting, then. We'd better get moving. She'll ask to see your summons when we arrive. Be sure you have it on hand, and keep your eyes peeled for the mongrel that's carrying my bow."

He then looks at Baern, the sturdy dwarf, Squeal, the resilient warforged, and Torath, the valiant knight.

"You're coming too, right?"

He turns and begins to go, then stops. Looking over his shoulder, he says, his voice tinged with humility,

"Thank you, priest."

Baern remains stoic and silent, his hammer slung up over his shoulder. Seems the others are doing a well enough job of talking, and he's more than content to leave it that way.

Not sure who or what to trust Torath keeps a wary eye out for trouble as he follows along with the others.

Silently cursing Munsu and all other deceptive cowards (especially the rogue Bounder) the paladin is torn between his duty to The Four and his duty to help those in need.

[sblock=ooc] I think my paladin is unaligned is that allowed?? Or do they have to be lawful good like in 3e?? [/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]To HolyMan: It doesn't really matter to me what your technical alignment is, and it has no mechanical influence. Just let Torath be himself :)

Now just waiting on Squeal![/sblock]

Squeal, Warforged Barbarian

Squeal watches the wounded ranger warily.

"As this one's companions have indicated, this group has been asked to protect the queen", pointing at the faceplate attached to it's chest, Squeal continues "This group has had a run in with the Cloak before."

Bounder nods, and without further ado, he heads off into the woods. You follow him for several miles, and his expert knowledge of the forest finds you deep in the heart of the woods, finally coming upon the White Vale.

It's a large, thinly wooded hamlet, with short, wooden huts standing in a tightly arranged spiral. At the center of the spiral is another clearing, which upon inspection, is covered by a neat canopy of trees. In the clearing sits a semicircle of elegant, wooden chairs, and Queen Springseer, immediately recognizable as a young, virtuous beauty, stands up to greet you.

"Bounder, are you all right?"

"Yes, your majesty. I was assailed by the villain, but these heroes saved me. They're the agents that Captain Scultone sent."

"Well, thank Adele you're safe. Please, take the afternoon to recover, and I'll see you at the banquet tonight."

As Bounder turns to leave, he looks at Doren and nods.

"Thanks again."

Queen Springseer smiles as Bounder exits, then looks at all of you.

"Now, you are agents of The Orphans' Guild? May I see your summons? You see, Lord Hood's passing was a shock to us all, and now that we're sure the rogue is somewhere inside the forest, we must all be vigilant. There's a festival tonight: the fey people celebrate our summer holiday tonight. I'm sure he'll strike during the feast. You'll be welcomed as guests of myself and the high council, and all I ask in return is that you please find the assassin before he strikes. I've prepared a room for each of you. Please retire for the afternoon, then reconvene here at sunset for the feast."

The Queen reaches out for the letter from Captain Scultone.

"Do you have any questions?"

"Questions?, a hundred come to mind but with the calm you show I to will try and also remain civil. My lady we have no time to rest and no time to feast, we must find this villian before he strikes."

Torath visibly gains control of his emotions. "You should not be exposed so, and we should not discuss plans of actions here. May we all retire to a more secure place?"

Doren Nudges Baern as he as far as he recalls is the one with the summons the captain wrote for them all. After the nudge Doren steps up slowly to the Queen with a charming smile and a low bow.

"Good evening M'Lady Springseer. My name is Doren Kar and it is a grand pleasure to meet you in the flesh." Doren says inl his formal stance and proper tones in line.

"Unfortunately my friend here is quiet right, we have much to discuss and I'd also like to do so in private if we may." Doren adds and nearly blushes as he sees the error in his statement. "All of us I mean of course." he uttered softly noting he meant for all of them to speak in a more secure place of course.

Offering a clean hand to the queen, Doren offers her to greet the rest of his alliance before her more closely, as a person of royalty should.
