4th Ed. Countdown...

Hello, my question is simply for those of you who have run Raider's of Oakhurst, how long did it take (say in hours) of game-time?

My thinking is that my group has 4-5 my gaming session's 'till Keep on the Shadowfell arrives so I'd like to run raiders of oakhurst as a lead in, but I don't want to start it too early so that we there is no chance to drift back to videogames in between. Then hopefully Keep on the Shadowfell takes us to June, and we don't look back from there....

We did our first run through of Oakhurst basically as a delve, little to no roleplayign or setup. We wanted to dive into the combat rules to test those out since those were the rules focus of the DDXP at the time. We played from 630pm to 1030pm and was about 6 rounds into the Dragon fight. Our end time is set as a pretty hard wall so we didnt go any further. When we sat down the next week to finish the dragon fight it was another 45 min. So all in all it took us about 5 hours, but some of that time was explaining, hashing out and grokking rules and ideas. We also allowed a few mulligans to both the players and the DM.

We also did the dungeon delve version with no roleplaying setup. You may be thinking of the Reloaded version that is more campaign style, but if not it sounds more like what you're after.

As for the delve, we had 5 players and we played about 5 hours, but didn't quite get to the dragon. Of course we had a break or two and some nice extended roleplaying sessions with Meepo, but I didn't want to rush things just to get to the final fight.

The dynamics were fun enough with my premade warlord directing people to create a barricade and carry it into the hobgoblin's area to counter their (already scouted) table.

I think we probably could have pushed through and finished in about the same time if we had not had several wandering guacamole and cookie encounters.

I ran 5 players through the original, through all the encounters including a 10 round plus dragon fight in just over 3 hours. The combats flew by really quickly. :)
