4th Edition Anger Spills onto the Table

I am in two gaming groups, one is family and the other are friends.

In my 'friends' group, I am the only one with is obsessive enough about D&D to follow it on the internet. So I've been the one updating them about 4e.

Their reactions have been uniformly positive, and we will be switching over to 4e as soon as it is available. Bonus: DDI will allow us to bring two of our former players back into the fold.

Is it possible that my positive attitude and presentation has colored my group's reaction? Yes, I'm sure it is.

I run a game store. Our sales of 3.x have declined a bit, but that only continues a trend we have seen for more than a year. As a retailer, I am very enthusiastic about 4E, but it's going to be a long 8-month wait. Among my D&D customers, reactions are mixed but the positives far out-number the negatives, at least based on the comments and discussions I have heard.

In my gaming group, we are interested to excited about 4E, but we are also torn. We will probably want to start playing 4E, but don't want to give up our current campaign and not sure how much trouble converting will be. One way or another, I'm pretty sure we will be playing 4E fairly soon after it is released.
