4th editon? 4th EDITION?? NO!!!

When I heard 3E was coming out, I wasn't as thrilled as I now realize I should have been. Having only played 2nd Ed. I didn't really see all of its flaws. At any rate, I was in the process of heavily modifying the system anyway, so I decided to call it 4th Edition... so you see, we aren't skipping fourth, its already been done. And YES if you beg me I will send you a copy of it for only 29.99.:D

everyone of us has bought the 3rd edition, so in order for wizards to make money they must put out a 4th edition. I'd just change the logos, keep the text the same. Now how many folks here would buy it. Come on, raise your hands you know you need it.

Cripes. There are stupid rumors about 4th edition that can't be backed up by a shred of evidence, but people spread it. There are stupid rumors about things like new magic:the gathering colors that can't be backed up by a shred of evidence, but people spread it.

Hey! I'm dating Milla Jovovich. There's no evidence to suppor that either, but could you guys put something like that in your .sig files or something? Thanks! :)

rumor control

Just so everyone knows, when I asked if and when a 4th edition was coming out at the D&D Q&A seminar at Gencon, they responded that there were no plans for such a product anytime soon. WOTC (both the business folks and the R&D folks) feels that 3E has plenty of room to grow before stagnating and you wouldn't see such a product for at least another 6 or 7 years.

As Morrus said, they are thinking about a 3.1 version of the rules, with some errata applied, minor changes, and clarifications.

Another thing they're thinking about is a leather-bound annotated version of the Player's Handbook. The annotations would be comments in sidebars by the designers, explaining various design decisions, etc. I assume if there is a 3.1, this would be after that, but no one really knows because they haven't made up their minds about any of it.
