D&D General 5.5 PHB Species Options

Were I to find myself in a 5.5 game, my choices would be dwarf, then human, then dragonborn, the last because I've been reading a lot of The Wandering Inn web series and now I kinda want to play a drake.

Was refreshing myself on their entries before i voted and wow, all of these leave me wanting, underwhelming much?
Voted Dragonborn, Goliath, and Human. I really like Dragonborn from a coolness perspective, but the breath weapon only really works on high con martials (Fighter for me, since I hate dumping Int and therefore play 14 Con Barbarians). Goliath and Human are both flexible without relying on innate spells, and Goliath has a bunch of flavorful options as well.
I wish MPMM was available for this poll, since my favorite species is actually Tortle. I just like the idea of not needing to don armor, or wear armor in odd situations (like in a big city adventure). Other innately armored species are also fun, but more limiting because they need Dex to get a decent AC.

Mostly agree, especially Halflings and Tieflings. Halflings got the least useful and most restrictive of their former subrace abilities, and Tieflings got a mix of mostly low powered spells rather than anything particularly interesting. I do like the Goliath design quite a bit though.

Human. But Because I was asked to pick 3, I picked dwarf (not sure why. Maybe because of blind sense) and halfling because they are just small humans.
