5 foot step and "Boots of Striding & Springing"

Centaur

First Post
The rules clearly allow for a 5' step durring your round, even if you are taking a full attack action.

Is this 5' step in any way affected by the use of Boots of striding & springing or similar movement enhancement magic. (IE. does the 5' step become 10')

Or, is the 5' step still a 5' step regardless of the base movement of a creature.

I am assuming the later, but some of my players think otherwise!

Any thoughts?

In 3.0 (and 3.5) a 5' step is always 5', even if you are a gargantuan monster with a 400' movement rate.

Its nice and simple that way.

Like DM2 said, a 5' step is... a 5' step. Ogres have 5' steps. Pixies have 5' steps. Dragons have 5' steps. Even titans have 5' steps.

As for the boots: just read the magic item description text. It adds to base movement, not 5' step. And base movement doesn't affect 5' step. So... boots of striding and springing don't affect 5' step.

Thats what I thought. In fact that's what I ruled in my game, but I told My players I would post on the forumn for confirmation, just to make them happy.

Thanks for the confirmation...
