5-foot step free action dependant upon size?

Is a larger creature with more than a 5' reach able to move more than 5' as a free action? Is a creature with a 10' reach able to move 10' as a free action without drawing attacks of opportunity?

I am still a 3.0 player and am joining a 3.5 game and was told that this was a new rule in 3.5. I don't know if it is new or just a house rule as I don't own the books for 3.5.

Sounds like a house rule to me. There may be a speciall ability somewhere that I am not aware of for some critters, but not as a general rule. The only rules similar to this I am aware of are:
tiny sized entering an occupied square to attack
if movement is down to 5 feet, than you cannot take a free action 5 foot setp.
Neither of which covers your DM's ruling.

I'd ask the DM if it is a house rule. Actually I'd ask for a list of his house rules if he has one because it is a real pain when you make decisions based on rules you think are running but have been changed by the DM.
