5 ton monster sitting on top of PC. Doable? Legal? Fair?

So, the big bad guy is a huge plant that weighs multiple tons.
During combat, it grabs a PC.
Next round, it puts it underneath it and sits on the PC.
I imagine a grapple roll for this action, too.
So, now the PC is under a huge creature.
Creature obviously looses it's DEX bonus, 'cause it can't jump around, but that's OK, it's a plant and not susceptable to Crits and sneaks.


Would you people have any suggestions?
Is it fair?
How do you get the big thing off after it dies?

The dragon's Crush ability is very similar to this effect. It doesn't say anything about the dragon losing its Dex bonus while sitting on a character.

Fair is irrelevant. Life isn't fair and neither should the game be. If its possible for a huge creature to crush a smaller creature, they should do it.

Me, I think I'd simulate it by using the -20 to grapple him without being considered grappled itself.

To get that fat guy off simply use that funny 6th level spell that produces a green ray and 'fizz' some parts usually a 10ft. cube is gone.

A Paladin's mount could probably drag it off. A dire wolf with strength of 28 would have a maximum load of 1,200 x 3 (for being a large quadraped) = 3,600. Now it says that you can usually drag 5 times your maximum load so that would be 18,000 lbs or 9 tons. Not too bad for a little wolf. Other mounts would all have similar stats. Or if there is a druid, simply wildshaping could be enough to get the plant off.

Anyway, it is possible to get it off, that is all the DM has to worry about. It is then fun to see how your players handle it.

well if there are like 2 or more pcs after its dead or however the battle ends they could probably manage to push it or drag it off...though im not exactly sure what this creature looks like to couldnt say for sure

Well you said it's a plant thing.. They could try burning it down. The PC that is underneath might object, but what can he do?
