D&D 5E 5e CB's Stonefast OOC -- COMPLETE

Could I vote for "both" -- as in, "both continue and recruit?"

We started with six players and now seem to be down to four players, after defeating only our first monster. We could continue with four PCs and I think we should; but if we have any more losses, our party strength could become rather problematic.

In sum: Recruiting could take some time. We could continue with four PCs until reinforcements arrive.

I skimmed through pp 80 or so of the .pdf and don't see a rule indicating that either a short or a long rest is required before leveling up. I'm inclined to just give you guys the level ASAP; PbP takes long enough as it is...no need to drag it out longer. If there's a 5e rule that indicates otherwise, then we'll abide by the rule. Barring that, just take the level now and be done with it.

Great! So that brings us up to Level 2?

Sorry, I had a meeting tonight. As far as recruiting, I agree with tuxgeo Let's keep going and recruit a fifth. Losing Eldon sucks, although we at least have another rogue. It would be kind of nice to have another cleric if possible to replace Merienne. We don't have a lot of healing otherwise.

Yup. 5e calls for level two at 300 XP.

For those of you interested in the numbers of encounters per level, the giant beetles were 50 XP each. Split four ways, that worked out to 37.5 XP each. I rounded up to 40.

Awesome!

I'll update my character sheet tomorrow. HP goes to 16 as I'm taking the default 4 HPs for a 1D6 Hit Die. I think some of my new class features are tied to taking a long rest. With a new Wizard level, I get to prepare an additional spell, plus I can scribe two new 1st Level spells into my spellbook. I'm taking Burning Hands and Magic Missile. I figure I can knock all of that out when we take our first long rest. Since I don't have the PhP, I'll be taking Evocation as my Tradition. That lets me sculpt my evocation spells at 2nd Level, which should make the AoEs a bit more useful in tight quarters.

I have updated Guran to 2nd level in the RG thread. The big changes are one more d8 Hit Die; 7 more Maximum HP; and he gets the "Cunning Action" feature, giving him one bonus action on each of his turns in combat, which bonus action can only be used to Dash, Disengage, or Hide. (He's going to be doing a lot more hiding, as he hasn't hid yet.)

Also some housekeeping changes: adding level number, XP count; removing "(Thief)" because he doesn't actually get that until 3rd level; etc.

Top post in RG doesn't include Roscoe yet.

Just an administrative note, I'll be out from Friday through Sunday. It's Mardi Gras season down here and I have a parade to ride in this weekend.
