That would work -- if we were all working together perhaps a single roll with advantage, to represent us pooling our knowledge of different things together?

I'm fne with helping to appraise and gaining advantage so long as there's a reasonable basis for the character knowing a little something-something about an item in that character's background. For example, Guran and Fulgrim are both dwarves, so either of them could help appraise the glaive. Or Colden, being a fighter-type and familiar with martial weapons, could help appraise the glaive.

Sometimes, however, the group might come across an item that no two of them know very much, if anything, about. If that was to happen, then advantage wouldn't be possible.

Most of the time, though, you guys will very likely get the benefit of advantage on the majority of Intelligence checks made to appraise items. Y'all are smart players and can likely point to to damn near any item and find a "reasonable" tie-in to someone's background.

OOC: How does Guran go about letting go of the guidewire? Let me know what he does to avoid springing the trap.

Putting this in OOC: I missed some byplay and characterization that accumulated within 2 hours last night in the IC thread, when I wasn't actively checking the thread. Fulgrim's actions took care of this, so I'll try to make my next IC 'Guran' post be something relevant.

You're fine. The vagaries of PbP sometimes mean that a couple participants will light up the IC for a spell, even though the full group isn't present. When that occurs and I'm online, too, I like having discretion to forward the story. I wouldn't, however, forward the story to a character's physical detriment (i.e., hit point loss or harm) without either giving that player or another player an opportunity to clarify/make a save, or me as DM giving the character in harm's way the benefit of a die roll by my own hand. In other words, I wouldn't purposely stiff you just cause you're not online. Just the opposite; I work a little harder to make sure things are fair when I'm about to do something involving the character of an absent player.

But I do reserve the right to advance the story even when someone's not around to post.

I will be away on vacation for the weekend, so low post rate should be expected.
Thanks for saying, appreciate the head's up. Have fun! I'll NPC Roscoe until you return.

"Heh, heh! He said 'low post.' Heh, heh!"

"Goin' to the Final Four?" (Apologies for the bad basketball joke. . . .)
I think Strahd's from Israel? Not sure if he follows US college basketball...though, he might. Or I could just totally be 100% mistaken about where he lives.
