OK, I edited my IC to account for the fact it is a full size weapon. I left everything else in, imagining Fulgrim is asking about the door as the skeletons are reforming.

Yeah, the built-in dice-roller continues to suck; This is yet another Natural 1 my PCs have rolled for damage with a d4 weapon.
I feel similar but opposite about the EN World roller; I get an inordinate number of natural 15+ die rolls for one of my games. If I have to use a dice roller, I prefer orokos or coyote code.

Speaking of that, anyone want the freedom to use dice or not have to link to a roll result? Go ahead, if you want.

I've found EnWorld's dice roller to be pretty fair so far, although Cyril tends to roll garbage in the Modern game (although I think he's had one or two 20s already).

Orokos seems to roll high, at least for Shadowrun games, based on my limited observations. Although I am not sure if anything quite beats this roll from invisible castle: http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4717769/

I'll keep using the EnWorld dice roller. It's fun, the only thing that is annoying is that you can't edit after the fact.

I can find nothing in the 5e ability checks/skills section that states that some skills are trained only. For example, there's nothing that I saw that stated an Intelligence (Religion) check can only be made by a PC with proficiency in Int (Rel).

Is this you guys' understanding, too? Any character may make any ability check? If so, that's a major departure from 3.x. Interesting.

Some tools are trained only, but technically there are no skill checks, only ability checks and everybody has abilities. Skill proficiency gives you the ability to add (when relevant) the proficiency bonus.

^ What Kobold Stew said. It's part of the streamlining. Just remember that, without proficiency in the skill, the best you're going to have as far as a modifier is a +5 without something outrageous.

Incidentally, I finally picked up a PHB, so if retconning is still allowed, I may take it. Fulgrim should probably be an Abjurer. I don't believe he's used any Evoker specific abilities yet. Up to you, of course.
Yes, you can ret-con Fulgrim. Absolutely.

Could someone please point me to a page number in the PHB that lists the critical threat range for weapons, or that otherwise discusses how critical hits are handled? I see the weapons chart on page 149, but (and maybe my eyes are tired from looking at print all day long) I don't see a critical threat range for any of the weapons. There's also an entry on page 196 about critical hits, but it doesn't reference the threat range.

I'm sure it's in the book somewhere. Anyone got a page number reference?

Crits only happen on natural 20s, barring certain class features (e.g. the Champion Fighter's Improved Critical ability). It's on Page 194 under Rolling 1 or 20.

ETA: Just read the IC. Fulgrim is swinging a warhammer, not a battleaxe. I think it's relevant in this case.
