5e Dragon Shaman Conversion

Power aura could be 1d4 to melee damage to start but all the +1d4 auras could become +1d6 at higher levels.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. My only hesitation with it is this is a buff granted to everyone within 30ft. That damage adds up fast getting tacked on to every hit. Hmmmmm, thinking about this what if the damage could only be applied once per turn (working kinda like sneak attack where you can get it on one attack on your turn but also on any reaction attack you take). That would allow for increasing the die type without the damage getting crazy out of control. What do you think?

Oh, I already thought it was once per turn. Yeah, that's how it should work. What do you think of the idea of increasing the die at higher levels? Too powerful?

You're already increasing the power of other auras.

I think restricted to once per turn, scaling the power aura as 1d4/1d6/1d8 should be fine (in the end, seeing it in play will be the final arbiter on it)

With the skill DCs being static in this version of the game I don't think going above a d4 is likely a good idea. Thinking about Rogues and Bards who already get double proficiency bonus to some skills even a d4 is a pretty decent bonus for them.

Planning on trying to get a few people to test it out a bit. Hopefully anyone who stumbles across the class here and gives it a try will post how it worked out.

Hmmm, possibly but the concern there is that technically the breath weapon is an unlimited use item that can hit multiple targets and the damage is far above what you can deal with a weapon or even several attacks more than likely. though Extra Attacks might not be bad fillers for the final two slots. That way at high level you have 3 weapon attacks when your breath weapon is waiting to recharge.

Only Fighters get Extra Attack (2) and (3). Barbarians, Monks, Paladins and Rangers do not. The only way that I would give the Dragon Shaman three attacks is if they got Multiattack, and that's not really a part of the original class.

edit: I should note that I like the way you handled the Auras, which I had trouble with in my own efforts-- partly because I was trying to work as a subclass, and partly because I just wasn't sure how they'd transfer over to the new system.
