D&D 5E 5e Fighter, Do You Enjoy Playiing It?

Have you enjoyed playing the fighter?

With all the same discussions about the fighter coming up every month, let this be the definitive poll! Why? Because the only really thing that's important is if you are having fun playing the class. Balance, power, out of combat functionality, all that stuff is not really important because the level of importance of those things varies from person to person (and largely rolled up into the "fun" category anyway). What the main goal should be from a design perspective is, "are people having fun playing it." Every thing else is secondary. If people are having fun with the fighter, then success.

One disclaimer: This poll should be for people who want to play fighters. If the class never appealed to you from the get go because you prefer casters, then this poll isn't really designed for you.

Haven't had the chance to play it that much yet, but so far it is just as much fun as any other class. The other guys in our group who have played fighter (champions) seems to have found it entertaining as well. I don't really think your class has much to do with how enjoyable play is anyway. I attempt more or less the same shenanigans whether I play a fighter or a wizard, I just approach them differently.

When I created this, I was thinking that if I got more than 50% who liked it, then it could be considered a pretty good success. I have to say I'm a bit surprised how overwhelming it is so far.

As for me, my favorite classes were thief and druid (I play mostly AD&D). But in 5e, I have to say half of my favorite PCs are fighters.

I ran one in three different delves at 1st, 11th (Battlemaster - polearm) and 20th (Champion - multiclass with some rogue and ranger; two weapon) levels. It was easy to run, was effective, and I had a lot of fun.

I am not surprised. It's a popular class.

I played a human sword and board fighter with lucky and shield master up to 6th and had a blast. Note we did not use the flanking adv rules so his high AC meant something.

DM not player here. The one fighter in my group is a very casual player and tends to forget things like action surge and second wind, only remembering the improved crit because it's marked next to the weapon stats on their character sheet.

That said, the player is still having fun and feels like they're being effective, so I'd certainly say that as a vehicle for casual players, fighter works well. :)

Played a sword-and-board Champion and was pretty happy with it. Recently experimented with ranged Battlemaster and was pleasantly surprised at how fun that was, too. I'm looking forward to trying a pole arm master spear wielded next. I haven't even thought about playing other classes.
