D&D 5E 5e Halcyon Academy

Professor Haught shrugs, "Real life is deadly. We are teaching skills that make you more able than any to survive this dangerous world, but if there were no fear of death, you wouldn't take it as seriously. We don't save students from their mistakes. Or from other students mistakes. We just teach you how to handle it if something happens. And if you can't, you didn't study hard enough."

OOC: Mim finds Morgana in her forest, playing with her feet in the water.

"There you are," she said cheerfully without looking at him. "I felt you go through something exciting today."

Professor Haught watches Mim leave before turning back to the others. "You did well. You showed initiative. No other students in the area tried to help. There happens to be an...issue that the Headmaster wants to talk to you about. It might be a little dangerous, but it would be a good way to get on his good side. If you're interested, meet me here at the tavern tomorrow morning. And tell *the teacher says Mim's real name nearly perfectly* he can come, too, if he's interested."

Zivar Gnome Wizard

Still thinking about his previous comment, imagining a daemon or devil, accidentally set free by some conjurers ambitious mistake killing his classmates while the professors, sit drinking wine and watching them die. Zivars frustration and fear is clear on his face as he leans back and swirls the thick brown ale in his cup. Suddenly he shifts to sit upright and lowers his cup onto the table with a thud.

"So what is it then? The headmaster thinks we have studied harder than him or we need to save him from someone else's mistake? Or is this another test?" This straight forwardness and rude tone directed at a professor is very out of character for him. His voice doesn't raise, but it's obvious something has gotten under his skin.

Quentin puts a hand unobtrusively on Zivars arm. No sense in getting a professor angry. If headmaster has something real to do, they can try out what they learned. Of course, it will be dangerous. Of course it will be a test. It seems that tests are all the same, you survive or you don't.

Grody takes his drink from Jordy as he settles in on his stool. He listwns to the interaction with the Proffesor quietly, knowing the two ways that it would likely end and. He also knew his answer already but didn't want to interrupt just yet.

"Yes exciting, that's what you could call,I prefer flying. Morgana I don't know if I belong here. I have found friends and I want to protect them but this place seems hell bent on killing them."

Asherah frowned a bit at the professor’s words. “Seems a bit...foolhardy,” she said. “After all, one can only learn from one’s mistakes if one is alive.” Professor Haught’s words were far from encouraging, so Asherah renewed her commitment to study harder so neither she nor her friends would die because someone screwed up.

When Professor Haught asked if they would help the headmaster with something, Asherah looked around at her friends. “We will be here in the morning then,” she told him.

[sblock=Mim]Morgana laughed, "Yes, it does seem that way. The school Headmaster has created a dangerous place, indeed. Only the strongest survive his school. Many think he is this great Headmaster who has created a wonderful school where people can go and learn and become great, but it's a ruse. He just likes having power, and when every strong person in the world is someone who graduated from his school? He has amassed a lot of power. But there aren't many students who would work against him. He's rather powerful at this point. Close to God hood. He has unlocked more mysteries of the mind, body and magic than anyone else has ever known. It would take individuals of great courage to try to undermine him."[/sblock]
