D&D 5E 5e Halcyon Academy

Grody looks confused for a moment and then startled, scrambles back into the winter gear fearing a sudden change of temperature. Once bundled up, he looks up to the proffesser and nods.

Professor Haught smiled at Zivar, "I've never heard of Oakhurst, but our Headmaster's been around long enough to know of places most of us haven't heard of. I wasn't one of his special students when I went here, but my sister was. She went on to become a Vizier in a King's court. Many opportunities come to those who work for the Headmaster. Along with many dangers. My sister was the only one of her class to survive long enough to leave the Academy."

"But I don't think you'll have much to worry about here. The Headmaster is very good at judging what people are capable of. The sooner you get there, the sooner you get back."

Professor Haught took out a staff and stood before them. Her eyes glowed for a moment, as did one of the jewels on the staff, and in a flash of light, the room disappeared.

When the light faded, so too did the heat. The temperature dropped tremendously, and the party was thankful for their winter cloths.

You find yourself on a road. Behind you the road stretches on into the mountains, but ahead you see the warm glow of a small town.

Grody about leapt out of his scales at the sudden change. He dove into the nearest cover as soon as it was over and only looked cautiously out after a few long moments and his natural Darkvision had kicked in. He looked up the road secretly happy for the darkness that allowed him to see more clearly in this darkness.

"That was...fast." comments Quentin. He looks over everyone and once seeing everyone is alright
"Well, no time like now. Let's see what this all is about." he starts walking toward the town. On the way, he tries his control over all things watery on the snow. And that frozen puddle, And mud. And the branch above.

As a consequence, he finds more limits on the power than he would like. But at least it works on pure snow and ice. And having the branch thaw and pepper him with icy water is good learning. He shivers at the memory of cold, cold droplets seeping under his winter clothes. He is lucky he could collect those and put the out or he would be freezing by the time they got to the town.

OOC:
We didn't agree on any name. It would be bad introduction if we come and say we're Academys Motley Crew at your service, especially if we need to meet nobles. So...any (serious this time) suggestions?

Outside Oakhurst
Winter/Night
Round 0

As they suddenly appeared outside the small town of Oakhurst, Asherah shivered, despite her fur and warm clothes. “This is winter?” she asked. “I don’t like it!” Her chainmail was...cold! Good thing the handles of her weapons were leather-wrapped. She pulled out her dagger and turned on the flame to warm up. She’d never been in cold like this before!

Asherah fell in beside Quentin as they headed up the road toward town. It was night here, which was weird, since it was only just after highsun back at the Academy. But rousting people from their beds in town was likely not going to be looked upon kindly, so finding lodgings was logical, even if they weren’t tired.

“So onward goes the Academy’s Pride,” Asherah said with a light smile. For her, it had a kind of double meaning, as small units in the military were often called Prides, or the Royal Pride, for those who served in the palace of the Suzerain.

Seeing his companions set off, Grody scurried to catch up. He looked on with an ever growing sense of nervousness as they approached the town and did his best to get lost in the crowd, as it were. He pulled the hood of his coat as far up over his scout as possible and even pulled his tail in, wrapping it uncomfortably within the confines of the fabric.

Dariana speaks, "Ah, very refreshing to be out in the cold again! I'm almost tempted to suggest we camp out, you can make great shelters with snow." Looking around at her companions, she changes her tone, "Or perhaps the inn would be best."
