D&D 5E 5E's versatile spellcasting

While this has been touched on in many threads, I think it deserves its own.

At will casting, both through cantrips and rituals, as or more generous then 4E. Hybrid prepared/spontaneous casting. And, if that was not enough, spells that can be spontaneously cast at different levels.

It really does sound very powerful, on the other hand, the concentration nerf is really hard. I don't think I can judge how it plays out until I actually get to play a low/mid/high level campaign.

I really like the flexibility and the D&D feel to it though, so thematically, it really does feel a lot better than the 4e wizard.

I know they had to have something at least remotely Vancian and I loath Vancian. This, I can at least get behind. You're rewarded for planning ahead, but at the same time you're not rendered useless if you make a false assumption or the plan falls apart. Worst was when I prepared multiple Feather Falls because our escape plan from the tower was to jump off. Ended up running through the dungeons.

More like you have to cast them at different levels. In 3e effects were dependent on caster level. Also fewer spell slots, so you actually need the at-will casting more.

Oh, and knock makes a loud knocking sound. Anyone trained in thieves tools?

Bloody 'ell! 300 feet! You can hear the thing from a Football Field away!

Oh, and good job, Jadrax. :)
