Of all of those, "Quintet" is the only one that I've never seen. "Colossus" would frequently run on WKBW 7, in Buffalo, on their Sunday afternoon movie in the mid to late '70s. Another gem, that was serious freakout material, was "Phase IV." It was also a mid to late '70s Sunday afternoon frequent flyer, plus on late night TV in the '80s.

Phase Four is one of those movies that left an impression on me when I caught on tv as a kid, but have never seen since. I really need to remedy that!

That sounds like the original. I wonder if a restored version is in circulation now? I don’t think the version I saw 30+ years ago had that scene.
The version on Pluto TV doesn't seem to have the scene that I remember at the end and the final scene is shorter than I remember so either I'm misremembering, or it's that other version that you mentioned.

The version I saw many times as a kid was, as I mentioned up-thread, was on WKBW TV Buffalo's Sunday afternoon movies in the mid to late '70s.

Colossus: The Forbin Project is something I somehow didn't see until a few years ago and, if one can get past the '70s sexism, it definitely deserves to be on this list.

I agree that Silent Running is over-rated. It has moments, but overall iI find it overly sullen, and it has the pacing problems that were all too common in 70s film and tv.
