On Sunday, August 31st, I ran a brief, unannounced, improvised Arena match for Ungh and Ozimal. The two gladiators of Morte Nobilis faced a group of bandits called the Manglers, recently captured and forced to fight for Noctus stable.
The bandit force consisted of two ogres and four goblins, who used simple but effective team tactics to savagely thrash Ozimal and Ungh, much to the enjoyment of the crowds. Ogres rushed Ungh and smacked him around with their massive stone clubs, quickly felling the half-ogre from Morte Nobilis!
Luckily, Ungh barely slew one Noctus ogre first, rending it cleanly in two with his mighty fullblade, and after Ungh's fall, the elf Ozimal delivered a healing potion in time to save the half-ogre from bleeding to death. Ozimal also managed to slay the other ogre before saving Ungh, and then the two worked together to slay some goblins in a flourish of decapitations that made the crowds roar with excitement!
However, Ungh was felled once more by a combined goblin offensive, a lucky blow from the mostly-ineffectual goblins... Ozimal once again prevailed, slaughtering the remaining goblins with a flurry of strikes from his two swords!
Once the goblins and ogres littered the Arena sands with their corpses, Arena clerics came in and saved Ungh from his second time near death, and the two gladiators were rewarded for their glorious fight. Each of the two victorious gladiators received a small, ornamental war-club made of solid silver, each worth 300 gold pieces if the gladiators later sell them. Both gladiators also received a cash prize of 600 gold pieces, while they each gained 2 Fame and 1,200 experience points.
