I was wandering if I'm the only one that think the aid another should be more effective when you get a good roll.

Like a +3 when you roll a 20 or +4 when a 25.

because it's only usefull at low level, at higher level you hame better chance if the two character roll individualy.

I haven't really thought about it, but yes, it doesn't make sense that it doesn't scale. To a 1st level character, a +2 bonus means a lot. To a 15th level character, it's pretty insignificant (he already probably has +20 or more on the roll anyhow).

+1 per 5 points by which the die roll exceeds 10 sounds about right...

Which.. is kind of slightly exactly like the Optional rules in Epic Level Handbook regarding Cooperation (page 38). The difference is that they say that ever 10 points by which you succeed the check gives an additional +1 bonus to the person you are aiding. Even though having it only be every 5 points makes it more worthwhile at lower levels, it will make it a small tad overpowered in higher levels.

Just introduce "critical" aid attempts. If you roll a 20, roll again. If the second result succeeds in aiding, then it's a +4 instead of a +2. If you want to take Improved Critical (aid another) go right ahead, now you "threaten" to give a +4 aid on a 19-20.

I have made a Feat for this situation:

Feat – Improved Aid Another [General]
Prerequisites: base attack bonus +1 or higher, any one feat from the following list: Exotic Weapon Proficiency, Expertise, Improved Unarmed Strike, Ride-By Attack, Quick Draw, Two-Weapon Fighting, Weapon Finesse, Weapon Focus.
Benefit: You can perform the Aid Another action as an attack instead of as a standard action. If you choose to make the Aid Another as a standard action, the circumstance bonus is increased to your BAB divided by 2 (minimum of +4) and you don’t need to hit AC 10.
