A Clash of Earth and Sea (El Jefe Judging) [See Part II]

After figuring out that he has absolutely no idea what happened, and that it's quite probable that he never will, Ducane just shrugs. "Yeah, let's head to the camp. We can figure out what to do next later."

OOC: Ducane is recovered from the cache-thing and my personal backups.

Heading over to the farm compound, you are greeted warmly by the inhabitants.

"Were you able to find the Merfolk you were looking for?"

Ignatious smiles and shakes everyone's hands. "Yes. We were able to meet the merfolk, thanks to the wand you so kindly let us use. They are seeking assistance from attacks. Evidently, there are three outsiders who have come and are working with the merrow and skrags. They are Taravin the Red, Mordrith, and Zedar, all arcanists it seems. Humans, perhaps. Their plot may revolve around releasing some other figure of immense evil power, somehow linked to a shark, which will corrupt all the lands around the lake. We had a vision where it seemed they could be defeated by smashing some giant opal with a hammer. Do you know anything of these odd stories?"

"I've never heard of sharks in these parts at all, can't say I've heard any stories about powerfull corrupting sharks either. I don't know what's going on between those Merfolk and the Merrow, but whatever it is we figure we're better off staying well away from the water until it's all over. I guess if there are sharks or something in the lake, that'll stay a good idea. We miss the fresh fish in our diet, but I've never heard of a shark that can hurt you if you stay on land."

"Well. OK. Perhaps our vision was not directly applicable. In any case, we do plan to return to help the merfolk. Would you mind if we stayed a day or two so we could prepare for our next encounter with the monsters of the deep?"

Iggy would like to get his two new spells copied to his spellbook. If the group's not in a hurry, he'd also like to copy 'fireball' in from a scroll. Conceivably, he and Sara could concoct some armor or weapon, too. Not sure what KB had in mind. Iggy's been approved for level 5!

The two new spells from levelling up are allready in Iggy's spellbook. He's been working on them regularly the whole time he was 4th level, and has just recently managed to get them to work properly.

Copying fireball from the scroll to his spellbook will take 24 hours, and as long as you have the special inks on you, you could easilly do that by staying here for a day. Before I respond in character, are you carrying the inks?

Charlarn of Phyrah: Male human cleric 3/ranger 2

Charlarn says, "Even if the sharks do not come out of the water, they still threaten the mermen. Surely the old ties of trade mean something. In any case, the mages creating these corrupted fish are men of the land."

Charlarn will return his borrowed armor to Zack and retrieve his own plus the scrolls he kept at the camp. Since the haversack is waterproof, he will put them into it. If the party stays for a day, he will create a potion of cure moderate wounds.

OOC: Potion of cure moderate wounds: 150 gp, 12 xp, 30 craft points

Perhaps craft points still confuse me, but I thought they didn't need to be spent mid-adventure, since in the midst of an adventure time becomes a definable concept. I believe you get to keep your craft points.

Edit: Also, you're in rather the same pickle as Iggy unless you have previously spent the gold to buy the materials. The farmers don't have special inks or potion brewing materials to sell you.

OOC: I'm not sure what Iggy needs exactly to copy new spells into his spellbook. I just perused the SRD w/o finding any particulars. Iggy carries "Black ink", which is all I thought I needed. If you agree that he might have obtained any special materials before leaving Orussus, let me know what it would be. I'd like to deduct whatever gold would be appropriate.

Yeah, you're right on craft points. Especially with potions, since they take only a day to brew anyway. Charlarn doesn't carry any materials for making potions, so I'll withdraw the action.
